If there were only three words to describe me they would be brilliant, hardworking, and determined. I am originally from New Jersey. I received my B.S. in Psychology from the University of Vermont (UVM). While in Vermont, I worked in the psychology and social services sector. After I graduated from UVM, I moved to San Diego where I began my career in HIV prevention. In 2004 I left sunny San Diego to pursue a Masters in Public Health at San Francisco State University. In San Francisco, I found my calling, which is social marketing. My fresh and innovative ideas, my strong passion for social marketing, and my desire to create public ad campaigns with a social justice orientation will make this a better world, one social marketing campaign at a time. This efolio helps present the projects that I have worked on, since beginning this MPH program, in a concise and modern way. The purpose for this efolio is to show that we have completed the necessary courses and obtained the skills needed to become a Masters' level health educator. My efolio contains the core courses that make up the MPH curriculum along with the skills that are suppose to be obtained through the core courses and other courses as well. Parts of this efolio highlight where I am today while other parts help explain how I got here. The usefulness of this efolio is endless.
What is Social Marketing
Social Marketing was "born" as a discipline in the 1970s, when Philip Kotler and Gerald Zaltman realized that the same marketing principles that were being used to sell products to consumers could be used to "sell" ideas, attitudes and behaviors.
Communication at the CDC
The CDC identifies social marketing as a practice allied with Health Education and Health Promotion.
